The good news is that these changes modernize Ontario’s first aid system, and for most employers, the impact has been minimal.

New WSIB First Aid Program: What Has Changed?
On June 22, 2026, WSIB launched its updated First Aid Program based on the CSA Z1210:24 Standard.
The goal is to align Ontario’s first aid training with national standards and create greater consistency across Canada through standardized course content, certification levels, and quality assurance requirements.
The Most Important Thing to Know
Your workplace first aid requirements have not changed.
WSIB has confirmed that Regulation 1101 remains in effect, meaning employers are not facing any new compliance obligations at this time.
Are Existing First Aid Certificates Still Valid?
There is no need for anyone to retrain early.
All current Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid certificates remain fully valid and recognized until their normal expiry dates.
Understanding the New First Aid Course Names
As part of the transition to the CSA standard, WSIB has adopted new course naming conventions.

To help avoid confusion during the transition period, Action First Aid certificates issued after June 22, 2026, display both names:
