Does my workplace need an AED?

How many AEDs does my workplace need?
There isn't one number that works for every workplace. Facility size, layout, number of floors, employee population and the time required to retrieve an AED all matter. Action First Aid can help assess your workplace and recommend AED locations and quantities to improve coverage.
Can you help us set up a complete workplace AED program?
Yes. We can support your workplace from AED selection and placement through cabinets, signage, training and ongoing AED management. Our goal is to make it simple to build a program that keeps your AED accessible, maintained and ready when it is needed.
Can Action First Aid provide First Aid training at our workplace?

Do employees need training to use an AED?
AEDs are designed to guide a responder through an emergency with clear voice and visual prompts. However, CPR and AED training gives employees the skills and confidence to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, begin CPR and use an AED quickly.
How do we make sure our workplace AED is ready to use?

Where should an AED be located in the workplace?
Your AED should be highly visible, easy to access and positioned so it can be retrieved quickly in an emergency. Larger facilities may require multiple AEDs to provide appropriate coverage. Our team can help with AED placement and accessibility planning.
What is Bill 141 and does it apply to my business?
Bill 141, the Defibrillator Registration and Public Access Act, is an important unanimously supported piece of legislation that will increase public-access to live-saving defibrillators and will save more lives from Cardiac Arrest!
The bill enables the government to create a registry of publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and establish requirements relating to the installation, maintenance, testing and availability of defibrillators in designated locations. The legislation also requires that AEDs have appropriate signage, be accessible for easy identification, and be properly maintained.
This Bill covers 6 key areas:
1. AEDs must be placed in ‘designated areas’
2. AEDs must be easily accessible
3. AEDs must have appropriate signage
4. AEDs must be properly maintained & ready for rescue
5. AED training is required
6. AEDs must be registered with the provincial 911 registry
