For over 30 years, Action First Aid has empowered people to take action, by delivering interactive and engaging First Aid, CPR and AED training. Here's how that belief became one of Canada's most trusted training organizations.
A Teacher's Spark
Deb Hennig, a PhysED, Science and Outdoor Education teacher in York Region, initiated a CPR training program in her school through the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Watching students gain life-saving skills lit a fire she couldn't ignore, and Action First Aid was born.
Building the Program
After delivering programs for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Metro Toronto Ambulance, Deb developed Action First Aid's own WSIB-approved training curriculum, driven by her belief in highly interactive, professional and engaging training.
A Family Business
As the business grew, Deb's husband Roger left a high school teaching career (and five seasons in the CFL) to join the company. His background in sports, nutrition and physical education made him a natural fit. The two have led the organization together ever since.
SaveStation® Founded
In 2017, Action First Aid launched SaveStation® to improve public access to AEDs through greater visibility, awareness and education. Today, our family of indoor, outdoor and mobile AED cabinets helps make lifesaving equipment easy to find and accessible.
Blended Learning
Beginning in 2020, Action First Aid developed its own blended learning program, combining interactive online education with hands-on training. Launched in 2021, it created a more flexible and engaging way to learn first aid.
